Introduction
Ascension Holdings Limited (AHL) was established in April 2009 with a principal objective of identifying and developing business opportunities in the South Atlantic and to expand such opportunities to areas beyond the South Atlantic.
Its current primary focus is Sea Floor Massive Sulphide (SMS) with a secondary focus on Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS).
Sea Floor Massive Sulphide Mineral Exploration (“SMS”)
Through its group company Obsidian Minerals Limited, Ascension Holdings Limited is working with the University of Bristol in an initial 12 month Masters Project leading on to the research and development of a device for the identification of dormant “Black Smoker” derived SMS deposits on the ocean floor and to apply such technology to exploration for and development of commercial sea floor mineral extraction activities in the South Atlantic Ocean and further afield.
Carbon Capture & Storage (“CCS”)
Through its group company Obsidian Minerals Limited, Ascension Holdings Limited is working in partnership with the University of Bristol on a Carbon Capture & Storage research project through mineral sequestration. The objective is to develop a process of Carbon Capture Storage that is patented for worldwide commercial application.
The research and development programme is a three year plan.
This is a 3 year project to research and develop Carbon Capture Storage within basalt scoria deposits via induced mineralisation. Working with its University partner the research will use minerals already obtained from Ascension Island and exported to the UK by Obsidian Minerals. If successful, the process will be patented and revenue will be achieved by licensing on a global basis for the offsetting of carbon footprints.

The Company is actively lobbying both the Governments of St Helena and the UK to draft appropriate legislation and a licensing regime that will enable Mineral Exploration to be under taken in the territorial waters of Ascension, St Helena and Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic.
